Paronychia is skin around nail plate
Eponychia is skin covering base of nail plate
1. Due to foreign material between nail plate and paronychium
2. By hang nail traumatising paronychium
Acute
- typically polymicrobial
- aerobes and anaerobes
Increased pressure within a closed fibro-osseous space
Seen in athletes, associated with repetitive exertion
Leg
1. Anterior compartment
- anterior tibial artery
- deep peroneal nerve
Limb alignment
Risk that late posterolateral corner reconstruction will fail in the setting of the varus knee
- varus knee alignment and varus thrust in stance phase
- consider osteotomy first in this setting
Posterolateral Corner Reconstruction
Moulton et al. Am J Sports Med 2016
- systematic review of PCL reconstruction for chronic injuries
- 450 patients
Heterogeneous group of diseases characterised by
- hyperuricaemia
- recurrent attacks of acute arthritis
Diagnosis confirmed by
- crystals of Monosodium Urate in synovial fluid
- tophi ("Porous stone") urate in soft tissues
- renal urate stones
Adult men
Chronic instability due to rupture of one or more parts of the lateral ligament
Progressive injury
1. Anterolateral capsule
2. ATFL
3. CFL
Can lead to ankle OA over time
